How does it work?

The lasers produce an intense but gentle burst of laser light that passes harmlessly through the skin and is selectively absorbed to remove broken blood vessels ("spider veins"), small leg veins, rosacea (red nose & cheeks), angiomas ("cherry spots"), birthmarks, warts, scars, brown pigmented blemishes, age spots, hair and freckles. The light produced by the laser generates heat within the selected area, destroying it without causing injury to any of the surrounding tissue. This is a non-ablative procedure to promote healthy looking skin, reduce pore size and improve skin texture through the stimulation of collagen growth.

Is it safe?

The lasers selected by the doctors at Cosmedx are the safest available on the market today. The patented surface cooling system minimizes your exposure to the laser heat while it maximizes results. Laser light penetrates the skin only to a depth of 1.5 millimeters, or about 1/20th of an inch. Because of this, scarring is very rare. This type of laser has been used to treat infants as young as a few days old. Licensed Nurse Practitioners provide treatment under the supervision of our physicians and are certified in laser safety and use. Special eye protection is always used when you receive treatment.

How long is recovery?

Recovery time for most procedures is less than 30 minutes. Caution must be used for 3 days after treatment by avoiding direct exposure to sun (wear sun block) or chemicals (no chlorinated swimming pools for example).

Is it expensive?

The initial consultation with our Skin Consultants is free. The consultant will explain, based on your needs, what treatment is available and the cost of that treatment. You set the treatment schedule to fit your budget. Be sure to check out our special offers for discounts and other savings.

Does it hurt?

No. You will feel the sensation of heat but it is not uncomfortable. If a sensitive area, such as the veins on the back of the leg is treated, the Nurse Practitioner may apply a topical gel anesthesia to minimize any possible sensation.

Is it permanent?

The improvements that you will see at the completion of your treatment are permanent. However, time and sun may cause new problems to arise. We recommend regular maintenance visits to keep your skin looking it's best.
